Attention Ballroom Dancers!The first annual Badger Ballroom Dancesport Classic will be held on Saturday October 29th, 2011 in Union South. The level(s) chosen in any one style do not limit the choices in a different style.The progression of levels is:Newcomer 1st 12 months of competing. State Street is completely closed off for students to parade up and down in their costumes with live music performances on a stage set in front of Wisconsin's capital. Tickets are sold $7 in advance and $10 the day of the event. Freakfest Tickets can be purchased in advance at Ticketmaster, www.frankproductions.com, or by phone at 800-745-3000.Tickets will also be available on the day of Freakfest at Ticket booths located near the entrances of Freakfest. Kimberley Mitchell comes from a ballroom family with both parents still teaching dance in London, England. At the age of 5, she started to compete in both Standard and Latin competitions in England, and it wasn't long before she was taking title after title. Kimberley is a former British, International, United kingdom, Closed British Champion, and has won many more Championship titles along the way, in all age groups in both Standard and Latin American. At the age of 18, Kimberley moved to the USA to turn professional to dance with Bill Sparks. Together with Bill, they became two times United States International Latin Champions, British Professional Rising Star Champions, 5th in the World Championships and 3 times Ohio Star Ball Champions plus many other titles were gained whilst dancing together. Kimberley moved back to the UK a few years ago to be close to her family and has spent the time till now coaching and judging English and European couples. Kimberley is now once again back living in the USA and based in Columbus, Ohio.

Donna Edelstein

Experience as an AdjudicatorAs an adjudicator Donna has judged many of the largest and most prestigious competitions in North America including the Emerald Ball, Hotlanta where she twice judged the US Professional 9-Dance Championships, the Ohio Star Ball where she has judged the Professional Smooth World Championship title event, The Professional Rhythm World Championships title event, and Pro-Am World Championship title events.She has invigilated the United States DanceSport Championships.Donna has given numerous lectures and workshops in the American Smooth and International Standard styles of dance.

Alex Tecza and Katja Lindholm

Alex Tecza and Katja Lindholm are the owners of Master Dance, a Chicago land based dance studio.

Together they have extensive experience in several ballroom dance styles. Alex and Katja have recently retired from a very successful competitive ballroom dance career reaching finals at the US National and World Championships.

They currently focus on exploring other movement and dance forms to find similarities between different techniques and styles of dance. Their goal is to use their knowledge of other styles to expand the limits of ballroom dancing and work out a system to train dancers to think outside the box of ballroom dancing and give them the technique to master any movement.

Krystian Grabowski

Krystian is the owner of Ballroom Dance Studio Northbrook and Vernon Hills. He has a long list of achievements in his dancing career. Krystian was a United States Junior 10 Dance Champion, US Standard Youth Champion, Amateur US 10 Dance Finalist, Amateur US Latin Finalist, Professional Rising Star US Closed and Open to the World Finalist. He also placed 8th and 10th at the National Competition Ohio Star Ball in Professional Latin. Krystian is also the latin coach of the University of Wisconsin's ballroom team. In addition, his recent achievements include winning the Top Teacher title at the Crystal Ball Championships, Windy City Open, Harvest Moon Ball. His students are some of the top in the country and have won titles such as National Latin Champion, National Pre-Teen Champion and National Rising Star Champion. Krystian continues to dedicate himself to inspiring and bringing up future ballroom dancers and competitors.

Ily Zislin-Chair of Judges and Emcee

Ily Zislin is a co-founder and organizer of Championship Dance Camps. He has been the organizer for DC DanceSport Inferno for seven years. Mr. Zislin has served as EmCee for many competitions including USA Dance National Championships, Northeast Regional Championships, Collegiate National Championships, DC DanceSport Inferno, and Harvard Invitational. In college, he was on the boards of Ballroom At Maryland and Georgetown University Ballroom Dance Team. Most recently, he co-founded "Dance Legends" a two night event in the heart of New York City featuring show dances by past and present World Champions.

Kevin Guy-Disc Jockey

I have been a lover of music and dance my whole life. As a teenager, I was the kid who saved up all of his paychecks to go out and buy a sound system. I wasn't content to just have the off-the-shelf system from just anywhere. Over the years I upgraded components, which included making the transition to CDs, from records. (Remember those?) I started dancing in 1997 and quickly fell in love with music all over again. Amanda Ashcraft-Scrutineer

Amanda Ashcraft has been involved in the Ballroom community for over 10 years. She started out social dancing at the University of Wisconsin - Madison and continued into competing at various competitions throughout the Midwest & Northeast. In the past four years she has moved into the organization side of competitions. Amanda has served in various positions at competitions, including Deck Captain, Judges Liaison, Registration, and Scrutineer. Amanda has been scrutineering for the past 3 years. She has been the scrutineer at such competitions as NYU Syllabus Challenge 2008 & 2011, NYU Swing Intercollegiate Challenge 2009, Harvard Beginner's 2009 & 2011, Holy Cross Ballroom 2010 & 2011, Harvard Invitational 2010, and University of Connecticut Husky Challenge 2010, as well as other smaller competitions.
